As shown in my previous post, Acid Town’s 20th chapter was finally published in the latest release of RuTile. Many thanks to fujoshiing for reblogging and allowing more people to be informed about such blissful news! /laughs
As I’ve told her, I’ll gladly bother buying the volume online,…
You beat me to the punch on this, I was going to offer to do the same thing. I’m not sure where the Acid Town fans hang out on Tumblr but I recommend posting this to the Kyuugou community on LiveJournal, or maybe the MangaFox forums for Acid Town, to get some more exposure.

Rutile Vol.48—released on 05/22
So I’m not the only one that checks for this? >_> It will still probably be like… another month or two before we see scans of this. *sigh*

…While it’s true you’re haunted by your past, it’s truer that you’ve traveled spectacularly far away from it. You swam across a wide and wild sea and you made it all the way to the other side. That it feels different here on this shore than you thought it would does not negate the enormity of the distance you traversed and the strength it took you to do it.
Cheryl Strayed (“Sugar”) might not technically be a therapist, but she’s been doing some of the most wonderful therapy anywhere on the planet over the past couple of years through her Dear Sugar column over at The Rumpus. If you somehow haven’t read her columns yet, you should definitely go and do so right now. You might lose several hours of your day/life in the archives, but I promise you it will be time well spent.

Okay I gotta say, I read this post re: Fan Art earlier this afternoon and I was thinkin’ about jumping in on this discussion since I am obviously one of the culprits mentioned. I mean, c’mon lol. But there’s not much more I could say that hasn’t already and probably more eloquently been said by…
I think this brings up a good point of what really burns me about this sort of thing. I tend to be a lot more critical of the things people say that I look up to who are popular, just for the reason that they’re popular… by that I mean, since they’re popular, what they say has a lot of influence. Using your influence to put people down or the work they do, or to discourage people from making their own choices and judgements… that sort of thing really upsets me. When you have a lot of influence in a community you kind of have a responsibility not to be a complete asshole… you know? Does that make any sense? Like for instance, if you have a lot of influence and you really love original art… why not call attention to the original art you love and encourage others to share and enjoy original art, too? Why go through the trouble to do the opposite and criticize and discourage types of art you don’t like? I just don’t get it.

I spent the morning un-following a bunch of very talented people on Tumblr.
That feels like a really weird thing to say. And it is.
It was nearly a dozen different artists in all, and they were all extremely talented. Part of what moved me to Follow them in the first place was their skill. In…
I agree with this so much. I watch many different people of varying skill level and focus, but the defining thread is that they produce original work and have original stories in their heads. I like young artists a lot for this reason; sometimes the stories aren’t the best but the feeling and brain power behind them is there.
Fanartists can do incredible work too, but as a consumer of art it’s as significant as the difference between eating a meal and eating someone else’s vomit.
So fanart is vomit? Jesus christ. Is that necessary? I have a lot of respect for you but this really sours that. You can word your opinion in a way that doesn’t just shit all over others.
Maybe if people showed the slightest interest in any original art I’d done ever in the degree they fall over my fanart, I’d give a shit about sharing my original art. If people value original art so much as to call derivative art vomit, why doesn’t that value show at all???
People don’t share their art online like it’s a business, especially on Tumblr. You’re not a “consumer”. They don’t owe you anything. They share fanart because it’s what they have fun with and they enjoy being a part of a community that cares about it. Let them draw whatever they want and what makes them happy and if you don’t like it, then fine, don’t watch them! Who cares, honestly. Geez.

Art’s great nudes have gone skinny
Italian artist Anna Utopia Giordano has created a visual re-imagination of historic nude paintings, had the subjects conformed their bodies to what the 21st century considers an ideal of beauty. The results are revealing—and quite shocking in what they say about the modern attitude toward women’s bodies.
oh no no no no D8<
Do not want. That last one freaks the hell outta me.
Okay, we get it, “real” women have curves. But could we please stop making skinny girls feel like shit about it, too? There is nothing wrong with being skinny any more than there is anything wrong with having curves.
